The journeyman's yurt is a distance away from the main farm, a few hundred feet up a foot path, off of a gravel road. It is set aside for an individual or couple or small family who have been through the ‘apprenticeship’ stage of life (here or elsewhere), and are looking for a place to set up a home base from which to try out a homesteading lifestyle. Most of the resources and facilities of the farm are available for your use, and you are encouraged to independently explore activities such as livestock raising, woodworking, market gardening, yurt building, or other cottage industries. You are encouraged to cut your own firewood from the forest around the yurt. The apprentice will be available to work with you on your projects as his or her schedule permits, and you would serve as mentor to him or her in the areas of his or her interest and your own experience.
